The cause of backpain

Understanding the cause of backpain is very important, actually understanding is half curing.

Our spine(vertebral column) has an specific "S" shape which is designed to absorb various shocks and gravitational forces (weight) as long as it maintains that specific shape.

Young children spine still has that specific shape, and is also very flexible, so children do not suffer from backpain. However, with aging, the spine becomes less flexible, and because most people are using wrong or poor postures when standing or sitting on a chair, in time the spine will be deformed and it will loose its specific shape.

This change of shape is sufficient to cause pain by itself, but sometimes another factor of shock or stress is added, like lifting a weight the wrong way, falling down, etc. A normal spine will easily deal with these, but not a spine that lost its specific protective shape.

As a result of this, local inflamation and muscular contacture will occur, which are the main mechanisms of the back pain.

This is the cause of all the medical conditions associated with backpain: backpain, lumbago, sciatic, slipped (intervertebral) disc, spinal disc herniation, cervical spondylosis, sciatica, sciatic neuralgia or lumbar radiculopathy, and so on.

In some disciplines such as Tai Ji Quan (Tai Chi), Qi Gong (Chi Kung) or Yoga learning the correct posture is very important.
